Can Daily Exercises Completely Eliminate Diabetes Problems?

Whether or not daily exercises can totally eliminate your diabetes problems depends on your personal situation and the specific type of exercises you perform. However, the long-term benefits of exercises are undeniable. Dr. Rasa Kazlauskaite, associate professor of diabetes and metabolism at the University of Kentucky, says that daily exercises are an excellent way to combat both types of diabetes. She suggests that anyone can benefit from regular physical activity, even if they are unable to exercise due to their condition.

Before starting any exercise program, make sure to check your blood sugar levels. If you have diabetes Type 1, it is especially important to check your blood glucose before and after exercising. Without enough insulin, you could develop a potentially life-threatening condition known as ketoacidosis. If your blood sugar level falls below 120, take a sugar pill or drink lots of water to avoid ketoacidosis. If your blood glucose level is high during an exercise session, be prepared to take sugar-raising pills to keep from experiencing hypoglycemia.

People with diabetes have a higher risk of heart disease. The condition damages blood vessels and the nerves that control the heart, raising blood pressure and triglycerides. Diabetes also affects blood circulation, leading to poor circulation and gangrene. Eventually, people with diabetes may need to undergo amputation or suffer amputation. Aside from the health benefits of daily exercises, daily exercise can also prevent many types of diabetes, and it is crucial to incorporate them into your lifestyle.
